How to Choose a Pose, Background, and Crop

Make accurate image selections before adding a Van Gogh package or product to the cart.

Quick answer: Open each product selection, choose the pose and background shown for that item, adjust the crop when available, and review every finished preview before adding it to the cart.

Choose the pose

Select the photographed pose you want for each print sheet or digital file. A multi-pose package may let you use different images in different product slots. A one-pose package may apply the same pose to every included print.

Choose the background

Background choices depend on the school, event, pose, and product. Many Van Gogh green-screen programs offer a large selection of backgrounds at no additional background charge, while other events use a fixed photographed background.

  • Select the background separately wherever the product asks for one.
  • Do not assume changing one item changes every item in the package.
  • Team photos, class photos, composites, and certain designed products may use a fixed background.
  • The available gallery choices are the options approved for that event.

Review the crop

Different print sizes have different proportions. An 8×10 crop is not identical to a 5×7 crop, so the preview may trim a small amount from the sides or top and bottom. Use the crop control when available and keep the student’s face, hair, hands, and important clothing details inside the safe area.

Black-and-white or other image options

Some galleries allow black-and-white, sepia, retouching, or another image service. These choices apply only where displayed. Retouching or image services may delay a digital download or the release of the physical order.

Important: The preview shown in the final cart is the best record of your selection. Review the student, pose, background, crop, and product one more time before paying.
