Digital Download Resolution, File Size, and Image Quality
Evaluate the downloaded image file itself by pixel dimensions—not the email thumbnail, ZIP size, or phone preview.
Quick answer: Open the extracted JPG file and check its pixel dimensions. ZIP compression and email previews do not reliably show the final image quality.
Resolution means pixel dimensions
Digital-image resolution is best evaluated by the number of pixels in the actual downloaded file. Depending on the product purchased, Van Gogh digital files may be delivered at different resolutions, including high-resolution files suitable for larger personal prints.
File size is not the same as image dimensions
A JPG image can be efficiently compressed and still retain large pixel dimensions. A ZIP folder can also reduce transfer size without changing the image’s width and height in pixels. Do not judge quality only by the number of megabytes shown in an email or file manager.
Check the actual file
- Extract the ZIP folder first.
- Open the original JPG, not a screenshot or message thumbnail.
- View file information or properties to find width and height in pixels.
- Keep the original downloaded file for printing.
- Avoid repeatedly saving edited copies over the original.
Why social media can look different
Social platforms, messaging apps, and email services may resize or recompress an image. That change happens after the Van Gogh file is uploaded or sent. Share a copy and keep the original untouched.
Printing
Print quality also depends on print size, crop, paper, lab settings, and the service used. Use the original file and avoid enlarging a small screenshot.
Important: The digital product name in the order confirmation determines what was purchased. Contact Van Gogh when the delivered file does not match the stated product or appears technically incomplete.
